Every car in the workshop on one screen, from booked in to done.
The Workshop screen shows what is booked in for the fortnight, who is working on what right now, which cars are on site and which jobs are still waiting for a day, with every job colour-coded by type.
A diary tells you when a job is booked. It does not tell you which cars are in the yard, who is working on what or which jobs are still waiting for a day. The Workshop screen in AutoChain puts all of that in one place. Bookings shows the fortnight, week or day by drop-off day, with each job colour-coded by type, so a day full of MOTs or a gap on Thursday is obvious at a glance. Live shows every technician and the job they are on right now. On site lists the cars that are checked in, Undated holds the jobs still waiting for a day, and Completed shows who worked on each job and for how long. Book a car in with just the customer, the vehicle, the work and a drop-off day, and choose the technician later.

Get started freeBuilt like the board on your workshop wall
Plenty of garages still run a T-card board or a whiteboard by the workshop door. The Workshop screen works the same way: each job is a row tinted by its type, MOT in blue, service in yellow, MOT and service in green and everything else in white, so you can read the week from across the room.
AutoChain works out each job's type from its work items, and you can change it on any job. Garages can recolour the types and add up to 12 job types of their own, such as diagnostics or air con.
Every booking also says what the customer is doing: waiting, with the time they are waiting from, leaving the car, or collect and deliver. The front desk knows at a glance who is sitting in reception.
Every capability, at a glance

Simple from day one
Setup takes about 10 minutes and there's no training course to sit through. Built for busy garages.
-
Book the car in
Use Book in to add the customer, vehicle, work and a drop-off day. There is no need to choose a technician or a time slot at this point.
-
Plan the fortnight
Bookings shows the fortnight, week or day by drop-off day, colour-coded by job type. Jobs without a day wait in Undated until you give them one.
-
Run the day
On site lists every car that is checked in. Assign jobs to technicians, or let technicians claim jobs themselves if you switch that on in Workshop settings.
-
See it done
Live shows who is working on what, and Completed shows who worked on each job and how long it took against the estimate.

-
The whole workshop at a glance
Bookings, cars on site, live work and completed jobs sit in tabs on one screen, so there is no flicking between the diary and the jobs list.
-
Read the week by colour
Colour-coding by job type shows the shape of the week straight away: how many MOTs, how many services and where the gaps are.
-
Nothing left without a day
Undated collects every job that has no drop-off day yet, so a job booked over the phone is not forgotten.
-
Know who is waiting
Waiting, leaving the car or collect and deliver is on every booking, so you know which customers are sitting in reception.
-
Answer "is it ready yet?" from the desk
Live shows what each technician is working on now, so the front desk can check progress without walking out to the bay.
-
Every site, or just one
With the multi-site add-on, switch the Workshop screen between sites.
Workshop View: common questions
Straight answers to what garages ask us about this feature.
What is the Workshop screen?
A screen in AutoChain with five tabs: Bookings (by fortnight, week or day), Live (each technician and what they are working on), On site (cars that are checked in), Undated (jobs waiting for a day) and Completed (who worked on each job, and for how long).
How are jobs colour-coded?
By job type: MOT, Service, MOT + Service and Other. AutoChain works the type out from the job's work items, you can change it on any job, and you can recolour the types and add up to 12 job types of your own.
Does every job need a time slot?
No. Book a car in with a drop-off day and no time or technician. You can still put a job on the calendar when you want a fixed slot.
Can technicians pick their own jobs?
Yes, if you allow it. Turn on "Technicians can claim jobs from the queue" in Workshop settings and technicians can claim jobs themselves. Otherwise managers and advisors assign them.
Is the Workshop screen included?
Yes. It is part of the core plan at £69.99/mo + VAT. Switching between sites needs the multi-site add-on.
